AmeriCorps Foster Grandparent Program:Helping The Children Who Need It The Most

Become a Foster Grandparent

Foster Grandparents are adults 55 years and older who volunteer in daycare centers, Head Start programs, family support centers, and lower grades of public elementary schools. Springboard’s AmeriCorps volunteers range from 55 to early 90s. The Foster Grandparent volunteers serve as classroom assistant and share their valued knowledge and compassion with the young children and staff. Their work assists children in developing academic and life skills.

Foster Grandparents serve 20-40 hours a week and receive a monthly stipend, which does not affect other entitlements.
The attention, care, and support offered by Foster Grandparents, in collaboration with teachers, boost family engagement in school and encourages the development of social, emotional, and academic development.
