Support for Your Daily Life
Our Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) supports you in learning new skills to achieve wellness, enhance your quality of life, and pursue what is most important to you. PRP Services provide and foster advocacy for individuals managing a psychiatric disability, empowering and equipping them with skills and techniques to confidently navigate daily life. We support people with psychiatric illnesses that impact their ability to live their best lives in the setting of their choice, enabling participants to effectively manage their mental health and thrive in their personal and professional lives.
What is the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP)?
Our support promotes recovery from symptoms of mental illness, by improving management of emotions and behaviors in a way that is focused on, and led by the client and/or the client’s parents, guardians, and support system.
Here’s what PRP services do:
- Facilitate an individual’s recovery and develop or restore that individual’s functioning in their day-to-day life.
- Inspire, create, and maintain success and satisfaction in the living, working, learning, and social environments of their choice in a way that is meaningful and fulfilling.
- PRP Services are a good complement to case management, connecting clients to resources and inspiring advocacy, with “hands-on” guidance to utilizing resources and support in a way that case management does not.
How Does the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program Work?
To participate in PRP services, you need a referral from your current licensed mental health professional. Referral forms are available online at SpringboardMD.org. When a referral is made, we will contact you to schedule an initial meeting.
Once you are approved, you will be assigned a PRP counselor. You, your counselor, and your family will work together to develop an Individual Rehabilitation Plan (IRP) and then you and your counselor will get to work. These services are offered both virtually and in person.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Only adults and children who receive Medical Assistance and meet the following requirements may participate in PRP:
-
- Adults 18 or over who meet medical criteria for services and actively participate in mental health treatment
-
- Children ages 5 to 17 years who have a behavioral health diagnosis and are in mental health treatment.
* Children as young as 5 years of age can learn to manage their emotions, communicate needs, and adjust behaviors to improve their experiences at home, school, and in the community.
